Cigar Style Baseball Bat Wood Pen - paired with Arizona Desert Ironwood

This small batch of thick cigar style wood pens was reclaimed and carved from the wood of broken baseball bats.  The wood you actually hold while writing is maple baseball bat wood, paired with Arizona Desert Ironwood, which is an incredibly hard and dense wood requiring very sharp tools to turn it.  The two woods together give an eye-popping beautiful contrast - a perfect combination!

Cigar style pens are perfect for those who have larger hands or prefer a writing instrument with a greater thickness than standard pens. This is a twist style pen where the tip extends when the top barrel is twisted.

The artisan we commissioned for this project is Mark Diller from Kansas.  He uses a meticulous finishing process on wood pens that includes over 30 steps to produce a durable, glossy, non-yellowing finish that far outlasts standard polishes.  This pen comes with a pre-installed Parker style ballpoint refill and comes packaged in a black velour gift box.  The gold and gunmetal hardware add to the premium feel.

Due to the glossy acrylic finish on this product, we do not offer any engraving or customization.

About the Maker
Mark Diller has been working with wood ever since he can remember. In recent years, he has honed his woodturning skills by making over a thousand pens and various gifts that are treasured worldwide. Mark is a fan of baseball, and is a Wichita Wind Surge (AA Twins) season ticket holder. When the opportunity was presented to create pieces out of baseball bats, Mark was excited for the challenge and opportunity!
